Community Support
Oadby & Wigston AFVBC are pleased to working alongside Elliott Hall community venue is South Wigston to be able to provide these meal. We understand how hard it can be for some families to provide during the summer holidays. We will be offering these meals but closed on Monday 27th July, 3rd August.
Mayor to support local AFVBC Breakfast Club
Councillor Carl Walter was elected to the position of Mayor of Oadby & Wigston for the 2026-27 municipal year at the council's AGM earlier this week (12 May).The non-political role of mayor is ceremonial, with the mayor acting as First Citizen of Oadby & Wigston and representing the council at events and civic functions.Cllr Walter said: “It is a real privilege to be elected to the position of mayor and to represent the residents of South Wigston, Wigston and Oadby. I will do my utmost to uphold the traditions of the borough, to support the local communities and put Oadby & Wigston on the map.“I have chosen two local charities that mean a lot to me and do a lot of great work in our borough to support during my term - The Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Clubs and the Leicester Tigers Foundation.“I would also like to say a massive thank you to our outgoing mayor, Cllr Jasvir Kaur Chohan, and to her consort Kuldip Singh Chohan for their outstanding service to the borough and county in the past 12 months."
Armed Forces Cream Tea
Your invited to join us at our Armed forces cream tea as part of armed forces week. Homemade scones & cakes, plus miltray items on display
Christmas Service
It was lovely to join the commnunity at St Thomas Church for their Christmas Christangle Service where members of the group attended along with family members. The church also collected toys for the table charity, where members donated new toys for children who may not get a gift at christmas.
Breakfast with Santa
Monday 22nd December the group put on a community breakfast, seeing over 72 breakfast being served. During the morning children where able to enjoy breakfast with santa, who sat and spoke with each child leaving them with a small gift. Thank you to all our amazing members for helping.
Christmas Meal
Elliott Hall for the 11 year putting on a free three course christmas dinner where members of Oadby & Wigston Borough AFVBC where invited to be part of this along with volunteers & members of the community.
Breakfast Remembrance Event
Monday 10th November the group held their normal breakfast club with a small act of remebrance at 11am. Over 35 members attened who enjoyed a free breakfast as a thank you for their service.
Veterans & local community enjoyed freashly cooked food, we where joined by local ASDA Community Champion who also served in the forces.

Standard Dedication Service
Along with the two new AFVBC Standards, the event was support by local AIr, Sea & Army Cadets Standards.

Vice Lord Lieutenant, The High Sheriff of Leicstershire along with Mayors and Chairmans attended Oadby & Wigston Borough AFVBC Standard Dedication on Saturday 1st November at St Thomas Church, South Wigston.

The event was also support by the amazing Eaga Gospel Choir from Leicester City.
Dedication Service
Oadby & Wigston Borough AFVBC will be holding a Standard Dedication Service to bless their new boroughs Union & AFVBC Standard. This will take place on Saturday 1st November 2025, everyone will be welcome to attend. If you wish to confirm your attending please click here
Breakfast with Santa
AFVBC Oadby & Wigston are pleased to be offering breakfast with Santa, this also will be our last breakfast of the year. We throught this would be a lovely way to finish the year of spendng with family & love ones.

Coffee Morning
Oadby & Wigston Borough AFVBC join forces with Conner Cafe in Wigston to prove a safe warm haven for veterans and serving personell to enjoy a free hot drink. They are open the 1st Tuesday of each month at 3 Spring Lane, Wigston, LE18 1LW behind the Wigston Library.
Services Of Support
We are pleased to annouce we are now working with Leicester Tigers Foundation to be able to offer support to Veterans & serving personnell & their families with support with benifits & other services. There advisor visits Elliott Hall every Thursday between 11am-1pm, pop in and have a chat
Support For All
New support groups for men & women's to help support different health conditions by partnering with NHS & other agencies. This is to support residents living within the borough of Oadby, Wigston & South Wigston. More information click here
Leicestershire County Show
Oadby & Wigston Borough AFVBC helped at Leicestershire County Show which was held in Market Harborough during the August Bank hoilday weekend. The group looked after the vip and sponsors. Image above off members of group along with Wendy Peters from Coronation Street holding Bella.

Community Support For All
We are have teamed up and supporting the pantry nook which supports those going through tough times, supporting food poverty by supplyng freash & dryed food, meat as well as hygeine products.
Opertaion Market Harborough Event
Again we will be supporting Operation Market Harbrough event which takes place 31st July-2nd August 2026 at Market Harborough Show Ground. Great military event.
